UPGRADES FOR WOODMANS HILL SECONDARY COLLEGE

Ballarat East students now have the facilities they need for a great start in life, with the Andrews Labor Government completing the new works at Woodmans Hill Secondary College.

Premier Daniel Andrews and Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle today visited the school to officially open the gymnasium, upgraded thanks in part to the Government’s Minor Works Capital Fund.

The Labor Government is also committing to over $8 million to upgrade the school, including a new Year 7 centre and expansion to the Year 12 VCE centre.

Since 2014, the Government has invested $12.8 billion to build new schools and complete more than 1,850 school upgrades, creating around 17,400 jobs in construction and associated industries.

While much of this funding has been invested in new schools and significant upgrades to existing schools, the Minor Capital Works fund is about delivering the small projects that make a big difference to government schools, while also supporting local jobs.

The Victorian Budget 2022/23 invested $41.8 million in the Minor Capital Works Fund, bringing total investment in the program to more than $130 million over the past three years.

More than 480 projects have been funded through this program – providing a funding boost and fast-tracking small, but important, upgrades that modernise school facilities.

The Labor Government is ahead of schedule in opening 100 new schools by 2026, with 75 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024 – ensuring every student can access a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live.
