BACKING LOCAL ATHLETES TO GO NEXT LEVEL

Even more rising Victorian sports stars and teams in Bacchus Marsh and Buninyong have been awarded travel grants enabling them to compete at the top level.

Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle MP, today announced three grants have been approved in the electorate from the Government’s Athlete Pathway Travel Grant Program. The grants announced today will benefit athletes from Bacchus Marsh BMX Club, Electrik DrillDance Inc & Buninyong and District Tennis Association helping them take their skills and compete at the next level.

The Bacchus Marsh BMX Club will use their $1,500 grant to fund travel expenses for upcoming BMX events. Similarly, the Electrik DrillDance group has been awarded a $2,000 grant, which will support their travel to the Australian Drilldance Championships later this year.

The Program benefits athletes and teams from a wide range of sport and active recreation activities across Victoria - from volleyball to water polo, fencing to calisthenics.

Since 2015, more than 1,700 grants have been awarded totalling more than $3 million, to help teams and individual athletes reach their goals.

The grants are part of the Government’s strong commitment to sport and recreation, gender equality and encouraging all Victorians to get active.
